My exhibit during Art Basel 2016

We find purposeful photography in those images whose ultimate goal is the common good; either as a means of complaint or to promote awareness of a cause requiring visibility. Beyond the merely aesthetic, technical or artistic, it is photography as an agent of social change. It is photography at service.

New exhibition: CHIRITICOS #I Belong

It is an honor to announce my next exhibition Chiriticos #IBelong at the Museum of Costa Rican Art from April 7-20, 2016. This is a project that struck me deep within, and I’m still actively involved. I thank the people of UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), who again entrusted me with a project of grand scale.

Documentary Photography: Risk of Statelessness

In January I was in the south of the country (Coto Brus) doing documentary photography field work commissioned by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on a population at risk of statelessness in the ancestral village of the Ngobe Bugle Nations. The vast majority of this population was born in Panama and spent many years in the mountains on the Costa Rican side of the border working the coffee harvest (and others).
